# What are the different lot types in house and land?

There are several types of lot configurations available in Australian house and land packages, with each type describing the land's physical layout. The lot type is just an attribute that describes the configuration of the land.

## Common Lot Types

**Traditional Lots** are standard-sized parcels typically found in suburban developments, usually rectangular or square with fixed dimensions.

**Narrow Lots** feature reduced width compared to traditional lots. These are favored in densely populated areas and offer affordability, though they may require specialized architectural designs.

**Wide Frontage Lots** provide greater width than standard lots, allowing for broader house designs and expanded front yard space.

**Corner Lots** occupy the intersection of two streets, offering increased street frontage plus potential advantages like enhanced natural lighting and ventilation.

**Battle-Axe Lots** are positioned at a property's rear, accessible through a private driveway or lane, providing increased privacy.

**Duplex Lots** accommodate two separate dwellings on a single parcel, arranged either side-by-side or in tandem.

**Terrace or Townhouse Lots** support multi-level residential buildings such as townhouses or terraced homes.

**House and Granny Flat Lots** enable construction of a primary residence alongside a secondary dwelling.

**Zero Lot Line Lots** involve structures built near or at property boundaries. This approach allows for a larger number of residents in a desirable location while maximizing usable interior space.
