# Staff Limits

> Give a staff member read-only access, hide the cost breakdown, or keep them to their own group of agents.

Limits narrow what one staff member can see and do in stock management. A staff member with no limits ticked has full staff access, as before.

Use them for someone who shows your stock and prepares marketing for a team of agents, but shouldn't edit packages or see your margins.

## Setting limits

**1. Open the staff member**

Go to **Team**, open the **Staff** tab and click the staff member.

**2. Open Access**

Click the **Access** tab. The **Limits** card is at the bottom.

**3. Tick the limits**

Tick the limits you want and click **Update Limits**. Untick them all to give back full staff access.

> Only administrators can set limits, and only on staff members. You can't set limits on yourself or on an administrator.

## The limits

### Read only stock

The staff member browses projects, lots and packages but can't change them. Pages open without edit buttons, and a package opens on its **Summary**, with **Inclusions**, **Distribution & Docs** and **Newsletters**.

They can still, for your agents:

* Generate brochures and merged packs, and download them
* Create and send newsletters

Deals, the Library, Insights and agency settings aren't available to them.

### Hide cost breakdown

The staff member sees the **land value**, the **build price** and the **total** of a package, and nothing that makes them up:

* No site costs, design or facade prices
* No inclusion prices or inclusion totals: inclusions show as a list
* No commission split, margin or agent commission
* No **Download Price Breakdown (Excel)**
* No commission rates on agents

Brochures and packs they generate still show the price for the agent they're made for.

### Own group only

The staff member sees and works with only the agents in their own group: the groups they own, and the group they belong to. This applies to the **Team** list, **Distribution & Docs**, agent pickers and newsletter recipients. Other staff and partner agencies don't appear.

A staff member with no group sees no agents. Set their group on the **Access** tab, under **Group Membership**, or make them the owner of a group under **Team**, **Groups**.

## What every limit does

Any limit, on its own, also:

* Makes stock read-only, as above
* Turns off the API, the Kenekt CLI and the Kenekt connector for that staff member. Their API keys work again once you clear their limits.
* Turns off the portal for them: limited staff work in stock management only
